The Trump administration has set the purchase deal for TikTok to be on April 5th, less than a week from today.

The temporary Supreme Court plan to ban the social media website, although lifted, set a strict stipulation for the company to have a purchase plan from an American company by April 5th, just 75 days into Trump's second term.

With the purchase deal deadline nearly approaching, President Trump has received the spotlight for what he could potentially do next. The president has used TikTok among other social media platforms to expand his political campaign in the 2024 presidential election, so it holds a special place in his heart. Because of this reason among other factors like economic and social impacts, the president has expressed interest in bringing forth a purchase deal so that it would not become victim to a nationwide ban. Critics of TikTok, like many Republicans in the House of Representatives, have cited national security concerns over the continued presence of the social media site in the United States, many many states have already issued bans of the social media site inside government facilities.

Therefore, a TikTok purchase deal, although unpopular, would be ideal here. Some key players who could make a purchase include Meta, Google, and even the likes of Elon Musk, who has expressed interest in reforming the social media company like how he reformed X.

Tesla fell amid talks of the purchase, with a 3.7% loss. Most other large stocks, especially those in the Nasdaq, have also fallen as investors continue to speculate what will be the fate of TikTok. Chinese stocks like PDD Holdings have also fallen.
