Rising Floodwaters Ravage Central Europe

In the center of Europe, large-scale flooding causes billions in damages as the EU braces for further disaster.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the flood is expected to impact most areas in the Czech Republic, Austria, and parts of Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, Ukraine, and the former states of Yugoslavia.

Most areas affected are along the Danube River, which has been overwhelmed by water as a result of heavy precipitation.

Several rescue missions involving helicopters and search dogs were unleashed to save individuals trapped in the floods, such as in an avalanche in Austria.

Many European researchers argue that it is the fault of humans for the disaster. Stronger rates of climate change has caused many parts of the world, including Europe, to face higher levels of precipitation, flooding, and temperature extremities.
