Assad's departure from Syria, and why it does not necessarily mean peace

Recently, the Ba'athist regime in Syria has fallen due to the former leader of the country, Bashar al-Assad, fleeing Damascus due to rebel forces. This struck a significant blow to both Iran and Russia in geopolitics. Even though rebel forces have defeated Assad, the issue comes from the fact that the Syrian opposition is a diverse group of ideologies, all with different agendas. Now that their common enemy, Assad, is gone, there are other groups that all want to have control over the Syrian government. I do hope that the Syrian people will be able to fight for a better future, but I feel the chances are unlikely.
