After 30 years, S.S United States begins her final journey.

After 30 years of decay in Philadelphia, the S.S. United States has finally departed for Mobile, Alabama, to begin the final goal of being turned into an artificial reef. Last year, Okaloosa County purchased the rusting Ocean Liner from its previous owner, the Conservancy. There were plans to move her earlier, but previously, the Coast Guard blocked attempts for Okaloosa County to move the Ocean Liner. This time, however, they finally agreed to make the move. This moment is bittersweet for many, as while this is the first time the United States has moved in decades, it is for the process of scuttling her.
